Email Policy on
arnor.org
- Spam is _not_ tolerated at any level.
- Mail receipt confirmations will automatically be removed on any incoming mail.
- If you see any abuse from people using arnor.org servers, please report it to abuse at arnor dot org.
- If you have a problem sending us Email, please look at the following list
- Ensure that your outgoing mail servers are not listed in any blacklist (for example, use MultiRBL).
- Ensure that the timeouts for the different phases of the SMTP protocol are in compliance with RFC2821.
- Configure your mail server to be copmpliant with FCrDNS. Please note that underscores are not valid in names of machines connected to the internet.
- Ensure that bounce messages are accepted to all mail addresses used to send mail to the outside world. (yes, even your do-not-reply@domain.tld).
- Ensure that the mail client correctly encodes attachments in standard MIME format.
- Ensure that your mail server retries deliveries when a temporary error is returned.
- Ensure that your email didn't contain common potentially harmful attachments.
- Ensure that none of your MX records points to a CNAME or an IP address and that all names in MX are resolvable through external DNS.
- Ensure that the content you the email was not abusive. If it was a distribution list, please ensure that the recipient has subscribed and has the right to unsubscribe easily.
- Ensure that your server or user don't use antispam software based on challenge/response.
Most of these rules are only the direct application of the rules described in the RFCs.
Please take note that some of your mails may pass through even if some of these rules are not applied because we are using an advanced whitelisting system which works one a "one sender and one recipient" basis. This system permits some mails to pass through if they are replies. In no case this garantees you that all your mails will pass through if you do not follow the basic rules for sending emails.
